RORCAL

RORCAL are a 5 Piece Doom/Sludge/Post-Hardcore Band from Genava, Switzerland who formed in 2006.

The members are: Junior, Bruno, Diogo, JP, Ron

They have released the following releases:

The Way We Are, The Way We Were, The Way We Will Be... - EP 2007
Ascension EP 2008 - Split Release with Kehlvin
Monochrome - EP 2008
Myrra, Mordvynn, Marayaa - Full-length 2008
Heliogabalus - Full-length 2010

All of the releases apart from "Myrra, Mordvynn, Marayaa" can be downloaded for free from the guys website.

All of their EP's and 2008 Debut Full length show what these guys can do. They play epic Sludge, Doom Metal music with lashings of hardcore music and Post-Metal type vibes.

These guys are hugely talented individuals. But their masterpiece is their 2010 new album "Heliogabalus". This is a single song lasting 70 mins of pure Doom, Sludge, Ambient, Hardcore, Post Metal with hints of Black Metal vocals. And its not the easiest listen. As it gets very heavy and very loud during its mammoth epic running time.

Read the guys description for "Heliogabalus" which explains its epic nature.

"Going right out of inferno, HLGBLS is a 70 minutes song which illustrates the decadence of the Roman emperor, Heliogabalus. This time Rorcal is going ways further than before, with crushing doom parts, including long hellish droning fields. This album is scary, really aggressive, completely gloomy. Be sure, you never heard something like that, and you never will. If you’re looking for something really extreme, this is exactly what you need."

And I agree with every word that they say and then some.

I recommend you go and lie down in a dark room afterwards to recover as its epic as fuck. Plain and simple this is a landmark release in the Underground/Extreme Metal Genre.

Download links for the albums are shown below: (You can also buy copies of the albums from the bands website as well.)

All of the above releases are amazing records to have in your collection. Especially "Heliogabalus". Highly Recommended.
