Gottesmorder are a 3 Piece Ambient/Sludge/Post-Black Metal Band from Italy

Gottesmorder play the new breed of black metal, which mixes Doom, Sludge, Post-Rock, Ambient and Punk to superb effect.

They did a s/t EP 12" through the russian Absurd Creature Records in August 2011, that boasts the collaboration of their
fellow K11/Pietro Riparbelli (Aurora Borealis Records, Actual Noise/20 Buck Spin Records, etc etc).

Over their first year of life, they shared the stage with many band, like Liturgy (USA), Altar Of Plagues (IRL), The Secret (IT), Rorcal (CH), Alaskan (CAN) and many more.

Gottesmorder are the type of band that I love listening to and writing about on this blog. As they really do bring something fresh, unique and original to the table.
They are one of the best new breed of bands being called Post-Black Metal. I have just started getting into this area of music and this band is probably the best I have heard so far.
Gottesm play brutal Sludge/Hardcore based Black Metal riffs mixing in Post-Rock Passages with hard hitting Punk ethics. Throw in the brutal onslaught of Black Metal vocals and you have a band that truly means business.
The band have just released their S/T EP. I got to listen to the 2 track version. There is a 3 track version to listen to on their BandCamp Page. So my article is based on the 2 track version.
The EP review copy I am listening to is 2 tracks and runs for 26 mins in length. The first track is a 14 minute epic called “Winterlight”. Full of hard hitting riffs, beautiful Post-Rock Ambient Passages, Sludge/Hardcore Punk Riffs driven along by outstanding hard hitting vocals.
With the winter months coming in this music will definitely set the mood for us feeling down by the winter months. It’s ironic after listening to this brilliant song it actually filled me with hope and optimism in these uncertain times.
A very hard thing to do with such a brutal genre. Maybe I picked up the wrong vibe when listening to it but it does have some beautiful upbeat moments. Not too many. As we are taking about a top-notch Sludge/Post-Black Metal Band.
The next and final track is the 11 minute epic “Abyss Of Throats”. Another outstanding track, which follows the same path as the previous superb song. More top-notch Post-Rock/Ambient/Sludge/Hardcore-Punk based Black Metal great vibes.
It’s too the band’s credit they really know who to play and produce a top-notch riff amongst the chaos of their superb music. The guys know when to slow things right down before delivering the brutal hardcore riff that sends this EP out of the ball park.
Brilliantly played and produced from the word go. The time just flies by on this outstanding EP. It feels like its on twice as long.

These guys have opened my eyes to the realm of Post-Black Metal. If I find anymore top-notch bands in this genre then Gottesmorder will be the band I measure all of them against.
