KOMATSU play a brilliant blend of Sludge/Stoner Metal with a great experimental vibe.

Their new S/T EP is simply superb. A 6 song 20 minute EP which feels like its on twice as long. Full of heavy pounding Stoner/Sludge Metal Riffs. This is one of the best Sludge/Stoner Metal EP’s I have heard this year.

If your into hard hitting and heavy pounding Sludge/Stoner Metal then this band is for you.

Taking influence from a wide variety of bands such as Mastodon, Torche, Down, Baroness and even Truckfigthers. So if your into these bands then check out these top-notch Sludge Rockers.

As KOMATSU sound like the distorted offspring of all those superb bands but still sound breathtakingly original. I know that sounds a weird description but that is what this brilliant release sounds like.

The EP is full of heavy pounding Prog-Sludge Stoner Metal Riffs aided along by catchy hardcore vocals.

Their first track – “The Mountain” is quite simply a brilliant and brutal instrumental Sludge/Stoner classic. Which is driven along by superb Muhammad Ali speeches. This song feels like a classic duel between the band and the great man himself. KOMATSU and Ali’s speech goes together brilliantly. A truly original song that you should definitely check out.

This song just blew me away the first time I listened to it. I was thinking what would the guys pull out of the bag next.

I needn’t of worried. As you have 5 more top-notch Stoner/Sludge Metal tracks to get stuck into. KOMATSU now play to their strengths by adding superb vocals to their already established superb Sludge/Stoner Metal riffs.

The guys even add a superb 70’s film trailer voiceover effect to one of their fast-paced brilliant songs. GATOR. A 2-minute fast and furious thrill ride, which is full of sublime stoner metal riffs. Probably my fave track off this outstanding EP.

The EP is superbly produced and has more riffs you can throw a stick at. These guys know how to play a lean, mean Sludge/Stoner Metal track. They prove it time and time again on all of the superb songs on this amazing EP.

I can’t rate this release highly enough. KOMATSU have launched a statement that a superb band have now arrived and are here to stay. Quite simply a brilliant and truly original release that everyone should be checking out now. I think I have just found my new fave band.
