Without Solace cover art

Anion is a Doom/Hardcore/Sludge Metal Band from Vancouver, Canada

The members are

Johnny - Vocals
Steve - Guitar
Cole - Bass
Adam - Drums

Anion is a band who should appeal to fans of bands such as Ken Mode, Botch, Cave In, Isis and Neurosis. As Anion have the same ferocious brutality and power of riffs, those legendary bands are known for.

Their new album – Without Solace – is a brutal statement on the world around you. Anion go straight for the jugular and do not let go until the dying seconds of their blistering debut album. Anion have managed to bring in Matt Bayles to produce the album and it’s the perfect marriage made in Sludge Heaven. As Matt is a well known for his work with Isis and Mastodon amongst others.

Matt brings Anion’s vision of pure Hardcore based Sludge fury brilliantly well to the surface. Everything is played at a constant Doom and Gloom level. Anion stay in the darkness through out the album. Anion is a band very much on the edge and they are going to take you on a journey you will not soon forget.

Lead vocalist Johnny screams at you to take notice. If you ignore him, there will definitely be trouble. The hardcore vibe on the album is the main driving force joined together by heavy slabs of superb Doom/Sludge Metal riffs. The band blitz through the eight songs like their lives depended on it. Don’t stand in their way as you may not survive this brutal attack Anion have at their disposal.

Anion have written some great tracks to show you what they are fully capable of. Check out The Last Instalment, Snake Oil, Close Talker and the 8:27 minute epic Rotting Bloom.

Anion are highly thought of in their homeland but this album will appeal to all Sludge Metal fans worldwide as we can all identify with the themes on this powerful album. This is an album with soul and more importantly, a conscience. Anion know the world is a dark and violent place. There are no easy answers. Just more questions waiting to be asked….

It’s with that vision that makes Without Solace such an unmissable album. Anion have delivered a brutal and breathtaking album that will leave a lasting impression for a very long time indeed.

Excellent and Highly Recommended.
