Rotten, blasphemous, heralds of the most
vicious nihilism and exacerbated misanthropy. Barbarian Swords are back and more savage
than ever with “Worms”,
their second album after their acclaimed debut work “Hunting Rats”. Their highly distinct blend of ill-fated black metal with the most
despicable and perturbing doom goes a step further in this new
album, becoming even more abrasive, violent and deranged. To their own despair,
the Catalans have improved in every aspect, boosting a chubby and absolutely
killer sound.
Barbarian
Swords break into the international scene with the release of “Worms” by Cimmerian Shade Recordings (United
States, 2xLP gatefold red and black, digipak CD and cassette), Satanath Records (Russia,
jewel case CD) and The
Ritual Productions (The Netherlands, jewel case CD), “Worms” will immerse you in a mantle of obscurity and
disheartenment from its very beginning, with ‘I’m Your Demise’ as
a clear statement of intents, ‘Outcast Warlords’ and ‘Pure
Demonology’ lay down the particular vision the band has of black metal,
while ‘Christian Worms’ and ‘Total Nihilism’ definitely push you
to suicide. As usual, ‘The Last Virgin On The Earth, Sodomized’ and the
assfucking dirty punk of ‘Carnivorous Pussy’ put a note of rhythm on the
album, leading to an ending with the diabolical ‘Requiem’ and ‘Ultrasado
Bloodbath’, for which not every metalhead is ready…
If that wasn’t enough
the album boasts spectacular artwork by the master César Valladares (Krisiun, Asphyx, Grave Miasma,
Under The Church, Balmog, Graveyard…) putting the
finishing touch to an album that
is simply pure evil and unstoppable hate. Today you can check their
