HOLY FUCKING SHIT - Where the fuck did this band come from. Swarm Of Spheres have released one of the best and freshest debuts I have heard this year. Seriously this band is fucking awesome. I am going to say that right from the start.
Here is the bio they sent me.
In July 2011 at the Meatlocker Studio in Ottawa,ON with Paul "Yogi" Granger manning the soundboard, the band didn't waste any time plowing through the tracks of their self-titled debut despite leaving a path of blown speakers, broken drumsticks and cracked cymbals in their wake. Rather than producing a sterile, polished recording, the band decided to capture the energy of a live setting by using mainly first takes.
Featuring 30 minutes of music, the six songs combine elements of sludgy stoner, fast-paced rock n' roll and spacey, atmospheric doom that won't allow the band's sound to be pigeonholed to one specific genre. With the mastering process completed in December 2011, the EP was self-released in digital format and available as a free download via the band's Bandcamp site with plans for an official release in the near future."
Believe me. This album is brilliant. It's the perfect mix of Sludge, Stoner, Metal and Punk which you need to hear right now.
This EP is popping up all over the place and you can see why. It's a brilliant blast of Sludge, Stoner and Punk Riffs held together by a cool metal exterior. Parts Mastodon Riffage mixed with Motorhead quick as fuck speed metal and a hint of Torche Pop Sludge sensibility.
They are the one of the best bands I have had the pleasure to listen this year.
All of the tracks are brilliant and have great titles to match as well. Check out Thunder Chunky, Breakass Mountain and my fave title - Ham Smuggler vs The Vegan.
The album is superbly produced and shows the guys talent to perfection. These guys are brilliant musicians who know how to play a perfect sludge encrusted riff.
My Fave Track has to be the 7:29 minute epic - Fear Is The Killer. This song shows best what this band does so well. Playing sublime riff after riff with great vocals and lyrics to match.
Well I have gone on long enough. Its fucking brilliant. End of Discussion.
What is even better the band have offered this excellent release for free download from BandCamp. So head over there now and download it now. You won't regret it.
Highly Recommended. - What do you Think!!!
