ALBUM PREMIERE: Let your speakers die with The Voyager by Clover

Kingston, New York's hardcore/sludge/post metal trio Clover are set to return with a brand new album The Voyager on 11/08/2018. Following the release of their sophomore album Exile in 2016, the bands blend off a heavy, offers a distinctive punch, weight and flow that blurs genre lines. Vocalist/bassist Andrew Guthaus' delivery is distinctive enough to permeate the no frills production and on the whole The Voyager is a definite progress and their strongest release to date.

The Voyager will be released on 11/08/18 on CD and digital download.  You can preorder the album now at https://thebandisclover.bandcamp.com and there will be a record release show on 11/08 at the Anchor in their hometown of Kingston, NY. More info available  about that is available on on the Clover facebook page http://www.facebook.com/cloverbandIn the meantime you can check our The Voyager in full below and let you speakers die!!

The Sludgelord Album Premiere - "Exile" by Clover

Fresh from our review of Clover’s brand new record “Exile” last week, where we described their record as a heavier, growlier Kowloon Walled City or maybe Black Shape of Nexus with far fewer fuzz.  Today we’re delighted to present the full stream of “Exile”, in all its bludgeoning glory.

Exile” offers a distinctive punch, weight and flow that blurs genre lines, there are plenty of enjoyable moments on offer here, such as the chugging, His Hero Is Gone esque riff of 'Monolith' that bleeds back into the opening riff and the very KWC sounding 'Into Exile' as well as the biting aggression of 'Scorn'.

But don’t just take our word for it, check it out below.  “Exile” is available here and will see an official release on 05/04/2016 via Manic Progression Records

“Exile” CD//DD track listing:

1). Monolith
2). Next of Kin
3). The Woven Stone
4). Into Exile
5). Scorn
6). Wormwood

Clover - "Exile" (Album Review)

By: Chris Bull

Album Type: Full Length
Date Released: 05/04/2016
Label: Manic Progression Records

“Exile” CD//DD track listing:
1). Monolith
2). Next of Kin
3). The Woven Stone
4). Into Exile
5). Scorn
6). Wormwood
7). Mantle
8). Elegy

The Review:

'Exile' from New York's hardcore/sludge/post metal trio Clover is a bit of an interesting find. All 3 elements mentioned above are blended so well that neither takes centre stage.

Imagine if you will a heavier, growlier Kowloon Walled City or maybe Black Shape of Nexus with far fewer fuzz pedals and you'd be almost there! All 8 tracks offer a distinctive punch, weight and flow that blurs genre lines. Vocalist/bassist Andrew Guthaus' half scream, half growl is distinctive enough to permeate the no frills production. There are plenty of enjoyable moments on offer here, such as the chugging, His Hero Is Gone esque riff of 'Monolith' that bleeds back into the opening riff and the very KWC sounding 'Into Exile' as well as the biting aggression of 'Scorn'.

It's a good effort from this Kingston New York trio, unlikely to be at the top of anyone's "End of Year" list but a very solid effort.
