The Review:

Victoria BC export Resent set out to form the nastiest, most disdain drenched sludge they could muster when they formed in 2017; with the release of “Crosshairs”, their debut LP, it is safe to say they have done just that.

Laden with disturbing voice over tracks, shrieking harmonics, and the grimiest riffs this side of Meth Drinker, “Crosshairs” is a disparaging and crushing 45 minutes of down and dirty sludge. Channeling their influences from 90s sludge “classics” Grief, Noothgrush, and Corrupted, the genre is flayed open and excoriated, like a festering wound, sinking into the darkest depths of putridity. Each of the 6 tracks are over 5 mins long, droning the listener into a stupor of aggravated despair.

If “Crosshairs” is any indication of what Resent has to offer, expect to see them leaving their mark on extreme metal. If you are out for something slow, heavy, and unrelenting, this is sure to satisfy; its primal approach to song writing, with its raw production plows over the soundwaves, and straight into your skull.

ALBUM PREMIERE: RESENT summon the sickness on vomit soaked sludge debut "Crosshairs"

Formed in 2017, in Victoria BC, today’s SLUDGELORD debutant RESENT, offer us ugliness plain and simple. Their music is disdainful and vomit drenched sludge and the six tracks that make up their debut LP “Crosshairs” is certain to make you reach for the vomit bucket.

The band draws heavily on the classic '90s sludge sound made 'famous' by Grief, Noothgrush, Corrupted, et al, but somehow manages to drag it further down into the putrid filth from which it was spawned, with the entire record reaching the despairing lows of the nastiest, bleakest moments of Meth Drinker.

TRACK PREMIERE: Experience the tar thick sludge of Left to Starve's new track "Zlatni Rez"

Left to Starve was formed in Karlovac, Croatia in 2013. Releasing two EPs and a split with Eaglehaslanded, they have toured Europe extensively since their beginning. On the 6^th October 2019, the band will release their debut album entitled "Nikada se nisam bojao zmija" via Rope or Guilotine, Mad Schnauzer and Slowly Growing deaf label.

The experience of listening to this album is like you're slowly drowning in mud, where every move only makes it worse and you know it's the end, but you're stuck there knowing this and there's just nothing you can do about it but to endure this feeling and wait for the bitter end. In fact after the album concludes the listener is left feeling as if nothing is ever going to be fine again.

TRACK PREMIERE: NIGHTFUCKER deliver aural evisceration on "Death Beset"

We at THE SLUDGELORD are extremely delighted to present to you the first single from the upcoming debut album by NIGHTFUCKER. These Canadian sludge/doom rooted organ twisters are led by none other than Dominic Finnbow, formerly known from the Lovecraftian UK sludge titans that was known as Moss. After relocating over the Atlantic, Finnbow summoned a new set of mire dwelling lunatics around him and forged the demon that is with us today. NIGHTFUCKER have meticulously explored the deepest and most atrocious sewers of humanity over the last decade, yet the band has released only one demo as a self-produced cassette, titled "Foul Omens" prior to crafting their debut full-length, now getting it's release through Sentient Ruin and Rope or Guillotine.

While the odiously depicted creation process took a long time, all the suffering, anguish and hate is audible. The first single track, "Death Beset" clocks in at over eleven minutes, and encapsulates the album well in all it's eulogised misery. The atmosphere is very unforgiving, hypnotising loops are broken ever so often with more driving, beating rhythms that'll make you gasp and twitch. If you're close with the lead figures past works, you'll notice familiar resonances here and there, but it goes without saying that NIGHTFUCKER  is a being of it's own. That being is a disgusting, bruised entity with a crust of filth obtained from the aforementioned expeditions to the deepest ends of this planets cesspits.
