PYRES

Demo 2012 Cover Art

PYRES are a Punk/Doom/Sludge Metal Band from Toronto, Canada.

The members are:

Andrew W.
Devin L.
Matthew S.
Marc D.

PYRES play an intense blend of Sludge, Doom, Stoner and Punk Metal to hard-hitting brutal effect. Their bio should tell you what to expect and it aint pretty.

"Pyres started germinating in the jam space around 2008 sometime. Dev and Andy had toured alot together in punk bands and felt the need for something slower and heavier. Matt joined up on drums, and we spent a year in the space trying things out. Cooper joined later after seminal toronto doom band ORN split, and we began writings tunes proper. Pyres keeps it fairly straightforward, leaning on no fuss punk and hardcore conventions to deliver massive riffs with classic/death metal undercurrents. Picture a Sweet Cobra tank driven by Lemmy while High on Fire plays in the background."

So if you want a Sweet Cobra tank driven by Lemmy while High on Fire plays in the background then this band is for you.

Their debut EP fucking rocks from start to finish. No bullshit gimics. Just straight in your face fast paced Punk/Doom/Sludge/Stoner Metal we all know and love. This is loud from the word go and never lets up. These guys know what needs to be done. Just sit back and listen as the riffs don't stop until the dying seconds.

It's a 4 song 23 minute blast of top-notch Sludge/Stoner Metal riffage that will have you coming back for more.

Fucking Awesome Work Guys. I recommend everyone check out the riffs on track "Proximity Anxiety" and be prepared to be blown away. Simply colossal riffs of the highest order.

The other 3 tracks are superb too and shows a band to look out for. They have a real talent for matching hard-hitting Stoner/Sludge Metal riffs along with great hardcore/death metal vocals.

Another brilliant Sludge/Stoner Metal band from our Canadian Brothers In Arms.
