Ghost Chair cover art

Bovine is a Sludge/Grunge/Stoner Metal Band from UK

The members are:

Damon Cox - Drums / Sub-human Metronome
Marcus VVulfgang - Guitars / Astronomic Vocals
Christophe Schaunig - Basses / Reptilian Vocals
Thomas Peckett - Guitars / Quadraphonic Vocals

Bovine is a band who definitely wear there influences on their sleeve, but when your influences are diverse from legendary bands as Kyuss, Soundgarden, Mastodon, Queens Of The Stone and Baroness you know your in for a wild ride of gigantic metal riffs.

Bovine is a hotly tipped band from the UK expecting to make waves with their excellent debut album – The Sun Never Sets On The British Empire. If you’re expecting an album full of British quirk and explaining the British way of life then think again. Bovine’s debut album is loud and heavy earth shattering affair going through Sludge, Stoner and Grunge with relevant ease. Though they do add a heavy pounding progressive edge to their music as well.

Vocals are handled superbly well by all band members. You have a great mixture of grizzled and brutal clean vocals without going to the hardcore/death-metal side of things. Gives Bovine a real edge to their music.

The Sun Never Sets On The British Empire is a stunning album, which showcases another great band coming from the UK Underground. Bovine have written a collection of great tracks to rock out to. Check out – Ghost Chair, The Battle Of The Sinkhole, Aneugenic and I Will Make You Real.

This is proper Sludge/Stoner Metal, which goes straight for the jugular. The album is loud from the start and it stays that way until the very end. You will be left breathless as Bovine play at such a fast and furious pace you will need to lie down after listening to this. Bovine have harnessed the anger and fury of Remission era Mastodon and matched it with some truly awe-inspiring modern Sludge/Stoner Metal riffs.

The Sun Never Sets On The British Empire is an album that can kick-start a revolution. It speaks to the inner rebellious soul in us all. And it needs to be let loose occasionally. Bovine have released an album that could be called perfect moshpit material without you being involved with one ever again. Though It will still leave you battered and bruised like the real thing.

Bovine are starting to make waves within the scene and on this evidence it’s praise that is wholly justified. The Sun Never Sets On The British Empire is a calling card to all Sludge/Stoner Metal fans that a great band have truly arrived. Long may it continue.

Awesome and Highly Recommended.
