Review:

Yanomamo is a band from Australia who deal in punishing slow-paced Doom/Sludge/Stoner Metal riffs with Violent and brutal vocals to match. They have released a few releases over the past 2 years or so which has gained them a loyal following within the Sludge/Doom/Stoner Metal community.

They must be good as they recently supported Doom Metal Heavyweights – CONAN – on their recent Australian Tour. So it's good for CONAN then that's more enough evidence I need to check out Yanomamo's blistering new single – Ativan And Whiskey. A 6 minute epic full of heavy violent Sludge/Stoner Metal riffs that will kick the utter shit out of you from the very first second.

Yanomamo add violent hazes of psychedelic vibes to give their sound a more down and grimy earthly feel. Wait till the 2:35 minute mark where this awesome riff comes out of nowhere. I didn't expect that at all. The band is influenced by the legendary NOLA scene and it pays dividends as the band stay brutal through out.

If this is the sign of things to come for their debut album then I can't wait to hear it. Yanomamo are on the verge of something special here. Check these violent sludge/stoner metal bruisers now. You won't be sorry.
