Review :

2013 has been a good year for metal. Plenty of good albums, tours and festivals have made the year excellent. To make 2013 that little but better. Hell are back!

This EP contains one new track, The Age of Nefarious; and three live tracks recorded earlier this year.

The lead track serves as a taster for the new album which is due around the end of the month. As you would expect, if you are aware of Hell, it contains razor sharp riffs, soaring blasphemous vocals and catchy choruses. The track is multi layered which allows for some subtle use of synth to help the pace of the track along. If the rest of the album is as good as this then be excited. The whole track rocks hard and you'll find it hard not to pick up the air guitar.

The live tracks showcase some highlights of the bands debut; Human Remains. Containing On Earth As It Is In Hell, Blasphemy And The Master and The Oppressors, the songs show what a tight, clean and clinical live act the band are. Another great thing about the live tracks is that they also show the bands penchant for the theatrical side of their show. Blasphemy And The Master's opening salvo of spoken word is eerie and sets the tone for the whole track. The Oppressors is a crushing affair with the drums being pounded hard with the menacing vocals sounding utterly fiendish.

It's great to have Hell back. After their slot on the Metal Hammer Defenders of the Faith jaunt, here's hoping for some headline dates complete with a ridiculously fun live show to boot with the new album.
