Future Ruins cover art

GIZA are an Instrumental Apocalyptic Sludge Metal band from Seattle, USA

The members are:

Steve Becker - Bass
Richard Burkett - Guitar
Trent McIntyre - Drums

GIZA are a brilliant Instrumental Sludge Metal Band who recently formed in 2012. And what a fucking great band they are.

Their brief bio states the following:

"Giza was formed in March of 2012 by Steve Becker, Trent McIntyre, and Richard Burkett with the goal of writing loud and massive instrumental music. In May of 2012 Giza recorded 6 songs with Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Isis, Minus the Bear) which will be released in 2012. Giza is currently playing shows in the Pacific Northwest."

So a band who have only been going since March 2012 have not only released one of the best instrumental sludge metal records of 2012 have also managed to get Matt Bayles to record and master it as well.

Well you know with Matt Bayles involved this sounds fucking amazing and epic. If your into Isis, Pelican and Mastodon then your going to love this like I did.

Their debut album - Future Ruins - is a stunning collection of instrumental sludge metal tracks that will leave you begging for more. The 6 tracks runs for an impressive 30 mins or so.

First track - Séance - is a 10 minute monster of slowly paced gigantic Sludge Metal riffs that takes it time in building up the atmosphere before the loud heavy riffage kicks in.

2nd Track - Wake & Drag - shows this band are equally at home writing short and powerful tracks as well. This 3:45 minute track has the same power and scope as the previous epic track. Giza add a cool psych rock edge to their music that is very hard to ignore.

3rd Track - Interlude shows the band in a more reflective and restrained mood. A 1:29 minute track that is more of a breather before the heavier riffs kick in once again. It does feature some impressive early Baroness style riffage to get you in the mood once again.

The remaining 3 tracks - Hour Of The Bullfight, Roaming Hordes and the brilliant 7:18 minute track - Great Leader carry on the same style that Giza laid down before. Intense Sludge Metal riffs to get your teeth stuck into. Even though the album is on for 30 mins - Giza don't waste a second of it. Every note is played to haunting and brilliant perfection.

Future Ruins heralds the arrival of a truly brilliant Instrumental Sludge Metal Band to follow. Future Ruins is a   stunning release and one that shows that Giza are a band of expert musicians with great talent and vision to match.
