Moghul are a Sludge/Doom Metal band starting to make waves in the UK underground scene. Their blend of epic drawn out sludge/doom metal riffs will leave fans in quite a spin like it did ourselves here at the blog.
Moghul have just released their superb 22 minute two track EP – Dead Empires. I have had this excellent release for a few weeks now and it was only on Aaron’s suggestion that I check this out. And I am glad that I did.
If you’re a fan of bands like Neurosis, Isis, Conan and Slomatics then your going, find much to admire here. As they play a similar style of music. Blending superb doom metal with epic sludge metal riffs. The UK Underground is becoming a much richer place thanks to bands like Undersmile, Wizard’s Beard, Conan and many others who have been featured on this blog. Now it’s time to add Moghul to that list.
Dead Empires is just an amazing release, which is full of great riffs and vocals to match. The two tracks are equally great as each other especially the title track – Dead Empires - A 10 minute epic full of scope and atmosphere that instantly draw you in with the heavy riffs on show.
Up next is the 12 minute epic – Hidden Hand – which builds upon what came before it before delivering an all out assault on the senses. Throw in an epic psychedelic sludge riff and this is an EP that shows this great band is all about.
Dead Empires needs to be played LOUD and loud is the only way it's meant to be played. Full of intricate riffs that even the most legendary Sludge Metal bands would be proud to call their own.
It's brilliantly produced as you can hear every note played in perfect loud thick sludge/doom riffage. The way all great Sludge/Doom/Stoner Metal music is meant to be played and heard.
Moghul have the potential to be one of the breakout stars of the UK Underground Sludge/Stoner Metal scene. Expect big things from this great band.
Roll on the fucking full length. Highly Recommended by ourselves at Sludgelord.
