The members are:
Al "the Yeti" Bones
Sean Hamilton
Dave Ljubanovich
Adam Saitti
Sean De Faria
Brodie Stevenson
Gypsy Chief Goliath are a supergroup of sorts with all 6 members from the following bands. You can read this great band’s brief history below.
"Born from the ashes of their old bands, these musicians helped pave ways in the Canadian stoner rock scene. Now serious about making no bullshit music the members: AL the Yeti Bones (Georgian Skull, The Mighty Nimbus, Mister Bones), Sean Hamilton, Sean De Faria, Dave (Blood Runs Cold) and Saitti (Georgian Skull) have decided to form a pure rock and roll band that dances on the edge of their stoner rock roots as well. When Gypsy Chief Goliath officially became a band, the vibe was electric.
This band is going to kick your ass. Now loaded with a harmonica player full time in Brodie Stevenson, the band is hot and in the pocket. They are tight with 70's laced grooves, integrated jazz rhythms, with blistering solos, and harmonies the likes which only Thin Lizzy could provide. After being a band officially for one year, the band has already performed with some of the biggest acts in their genre, ie. Cancer Bats, Blood Ceremony, Sons of Otis, Bison BC, Barnburner, Fiftywatthead, White Cowbell Oklahoma to name a few."
They released their debut album - It's A Walk In The Mist - back in 2011 which got acclaimed amongst the Stoner Rock/Metal fraternity. The band pay homage to the following bands – Down, Thin Lizzy, Clutch and the legendary NOLA Metal scene but adding a cool blues rock vibe to proceedings.
Gypsy Chief Goliath are about to release their awesome second new album – New Machines Of The Night. A 10 song and 48 minute blast of top-notch riffage that pays respect to the classic bands of past and present.
It’s not the most original sounds but then again have you heard an album that sounds like a supergroup session of Down, Thin Lizzy and Clutch all battling for supremacy .
Even the vocals have a great Phil Anselmo and Phil Lynott type vibe. One minute your listening to a riff that would make Down proud then it breaks into a classic Thin Lizzy style moment. But Gypsy Chief Goliath do add their own style of Blues Tinged Rock and even including some Country infleunces as well.
It’s an album that is a great listen from start to finish. It’s an action packed thrill ride of modern based Stoner Metal riffage that will appeal to all fans of Stoner Rock and Metal. The album is brillinatly produced and should gain the band a whole lot more exposure when it’s finally released upon the world.
Standout tracks to check out are: Uneasy Kings, Dirt Meets Rust, Got No Soul and my fave track – Fought For Death. These are the songs which should get your hearbeat pumping and rockng out in no time at all. People might think this album is a bit too old school for them. But your missing out on a great album.
If you want an album that is full of brilliant action packed riffs with vocals to match then this is the one to have. I loved every second of it. It takes me back to my youth listening to great bands from the 70s & 80s but this has the extra advantage of top-notch NOLA based riffage.
Yeah I loved it. End Of. Highly Recommended.
I would love to say you can buy this brilliant album now but at the moment it’s not even out yet. As the band are looking for a label to release this on. So any labels looking for an excellent Blues Rock/Stoner Metal band with a great album behind them. Then this is your perfect opportunity. Get these guys signed now. You won’t be sorry.
