Civil Disobedience For Losers cover art

Indian Handcrafts is a Sludge/Stoner/Noise Rock Duo from Canada

The members are:

Brandyn James Aikins
Daniel Brandon Allen

Indian Handcrafts are a hugely talented Rock Duo who blend Sludge, Stoner, Noise, Punk and Doom to highly original effect. We at Sludgelord are big fans of this band and their amazing new album – Civil Disobedience For Losers.

An 11 song and almost 40-minute blast of amazing sounds, noises and riffs that pays homage to great bands past and present.

The album is expertly produced by Toshi Kasai and features guest appearances from The Melvins members - Dale Crover and Coady Willis.

Indian Handcrafts come off as more assessable and crazier version of The Melvins. You can also hear Black Mountain, White Stripes and Torche influences in their music as well. However, all still done a highly brilliant original way.

First track – Bruce Lee – like the greatest martial arts and action star ever to grace the world is a truly wonderful stomping affair. Like the great man himself, this song will roundhouse kick you sideways into submission easily. It is a 4:30 minute blast of insane riffs and lyrics to match with obvious nods to Bruce’s film career.

Next track – Red Action – could not be anymore different to the last song. It is a snarling Punk/Garage Rock affair with loud angry blasts of Stoner/Noise riffs coming through the speakers. It shows these guys are not afraid to stay in one genre too long. It is insanely catch though.

As the album progresses the songs get even crazier and heavier but in a truly original way. The guys even write insane lyrics to match the crazy blend of their music to truly stand out from the crowd. Especially on tracks – Starcraft, Zombies, Terminal Horse. It feels like receiving a ferocious kick to the head but one you feel happily receiving due to the outstanding riffage on show.

Indian Handcrafts are a hard band to define. Noise, Stoner, Sludge, Doom and Punk are just small elements of what this band is all about. For a duo, they have ideas and riffs that bigger sized bands can never match. The creativity on this release is just astounding matched with excellent humour as well. It really is jaw-dropping stuff.

My fave track on the album is – Coming Home. As it showcases what this great band is all about. Riffs, Vocals and lyrics that everyone will love. This is what I call the perfect pop song for a band like Indian Handcrafts to crossover into the mainstream.

This is a song that Torche would be proud to call their own. It has that Torche early vibe but still done with bags of originality that only Indian Handcrafts can deliver. I do not want to spoil any of the surprises the album has in store for the listener. As it packs a lot more than I can actually describe to you all.

In my opinion, I think Indian Handcrafts are the next big thing in the Noise/Sludge/Stoner Rock scene to be discovered by the mainstream They will love this type of album as it crosses so many boundaries but instantly likeable from the first listen.

Indian Handcrafts will be one of the big-hitters in 2013 as they are on the verge of greatness. They will be the must see band of 2013. There is nothing they can do about it but to enjoy the ride. As it is going to be wild time for this amazing band.

Civil Disobedience For Losers is a triumph on all levels. The only losers here will be the people who decide not to listen to this album. They will be missing out on one of the best debuts of 2012.

Brilliant and Highly Recommended from The Sludgelord Team.
