TwinGiant are a brilliant Sludge/Stoner Metal band who I have featured a couple of times now on the blog. Their blend of sublime Sludge/Stoner Metal riffs has won them quite a following within the Sludge/Stoner Metal world.

Their debut album was a heavy slab of brilliant Sludge/Stoner Metal riffs. If you’re a fan of The Sword, Mastodon, High On Fire and Sleep then these guys would definitely be on your radar as they were with mine. I reviewed their debut album back in 2012.

Well TwinGiant are back with their rifftastic new EP – Sin Nombre – A 5 track and 27-minute blast of hard-rocking riffs to rock out to. Nothing much has changed from their excellent debut. Just more of the same great TwinGiant magic that made me such a fan of their music in the first place.

Opening track – Pelisneros – will show you TwinGiant mean business from the very start by incorporating a bleak message that sort of reminds me of a bleak 70s war film. An eerie soundclip is matched with hard-hitting vocals and riffs to give this track a rather distinct and dangerous edge.

What follows after this great track is more brilliant Sludge/Stoner Metal riffs to prove that TwinGaint are on top of their game. They prove they are one of the best bands currently out there. Check out excellent tracks – Fossilized, La Haine and Cloked In Black. OK just about every track on the EP.

TwinGiant close the album on a sombre note with a track called Ricky X. A good friend of theirs called Rick Martinez who sadly passed away and one who used to hosted a brilliant radio show. This is a guy I would of loved to have met based mainly on his brilliant list of bands he plays he plays on the show.

It ends the EP on sort of a sad note but what comes before make this EP a triumph of the human condition and human spirit. I applaud TwinGiant for the bleak messages held on the EP. It’s possibly their finest work to date.

Excellent and Highly Recommended.

You can buy Sin Nombre from their BandCamp Page now. Thanks to the guys for sending me a copy to review. Much appreciated dudes.
