TRACK PREMIERE: Cincinnati progressive grunge collective Static Tension debut "Obstacle of Doubt"

Static Tension draws upon influences stemming from classic rock, 90's grunge, and progressive metal to craft a unique musical blend best referred to as "Progressive Grunge."  The Cincinnati, OH based band combines powerful riffs with melodic vocal harmonies, thought provoking lyrics, and intricate musical arrangements to generate their sound. Some influences include artists such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Tool, Metallica, Dream Theater, and Fates Warning.

Lead guitarist Greg Blachman first used the name Static Tension in 1999, during which time the band recorded the album, "Paint By Number" before parting ways in 2001. The name was resurrected in 2014 with a new line-up, including lead vocalist Rob Rom, and bassist Ritchie Paik.  In early 2015 the band completed a four track EP entitled "Rebirth", which contains two vocally reworked tracks off of Greg's solo album "Beyond Horizons" released in 2013 ("Beyond Horizons" & "Shame"), as well as two new, more collaborative tracks - ("Bottom Rung" & "Rebirth").

Drummer/Percussionist Anthony Sager joined the band in the Spring of 2015, at which point Static Tension began work on writing new material and strengthening their live performance.  In May of 2016, the band began, and has recently completed, recording of their latest six track EP entitled "Out Of Reach" - set for release on January 6, 2017 and today are officially premiering a brand new song entitled “Obstacle of Doubt” which is streaming below
