Interview with Witches Of God

The Blood of Others cover art

Today on Sludgelord it's my pleasure to be interviewing Doom/Stoner Metallers – Witches Of God.

This band has came out of nowhere and released one of the best début albums of 2013 with – The Blood Of Others.

I described the album as the following:

“Witches Of God might wear their influences on their sleeve. But who cares. The Blood Of Others is brilliant through out. Witches Of God are a band who bring their own style of riffs to the devil worshipping party. FUCK - They even add Space Rock vibes to the album as well.

You want more proof to buy this album. OK how about the excellent 7:27 minute track - The Horror which features legendary Doom Maestro - Wino. Damn if there was ever a marriage made perfectly in Hell then this is it. This song just fucking rules. Both parties are on incredible form here. Play this song at full blast and be prepared to be possessed.

As you can tell I love this album. I think The Blood Of Others has the potential to launch Witches Of God as the next big thing within the Doom/Occult/Stoner Metal world. They are the real deal.

The Blood Of Others is simply an incredible album. This is definitely one of my top records of 2013. WOW.”

This album is starting to receive a whole load of praise from the Sludge/Doom/Stoner Metal scene. And why not. This band has the potential to be the next big thing within the Stoner Metal world.

Before then the band have kindly agreed an interview with myself which I am rather excited about. So lets get started with – Witches Of God.

Q1 – Hi guys. How are things with you today. Thanks for doing this.

Hi! - Doing great...  You're welcome...

Q2 – Can you give people a brief history on how the band came about.

We hooked up... We jammed... We liked it... We recorded... We liked it... We recorded some more... Liked it more... Ta Da!!!

Q3 – You have just released your excellent new album – The Blood Of Others – which seems to be getting a whole load of praise from the Doom/Stoner Metal community. You guys pleased with the reviews so far.

Yes!

Q4 – Was it an easy album to write and record for. And if so would you change anything about the album since it now has been released.

Yes, it was very enjoyable to create... Wouldn't change a single thing...

Q5 – I love the mix of fuzz based Doom/Stoner Metal riffs mixed with Dark Occult Rock as well. Was that always your plan for the band to be a mixture of different sounds and vibes. Or do you classify yourselves as a Hard Rock Band.

What plan!?

Q6 – I have to ask how did you get Scott “Wino” Weinrich and Eddie Solis to appear on the album. Great work on getting them involved especially on a début album.

It was Eddie who turned us onto Samur who turned Wino onto us.

Q7 – You recorded the album within 10 days. WOW. I am stunned at that one as the album feels like years in the making and not days.

Actually, it only took 7 days to record as the other three days were dedicated to mixing the tracks.

Q8 – How did you hook up with producer Samur Khouja to produce the album and Joona Lukala to master it as well. You definitely deserve credit for the amount of talent involved behind the scenes.

See Q6... We like Joona's work so, we contacted him... He's cool!

Q9 – Tom Neely designed the excellent album cover. Sets the tone really well for the entire feel of the album. Was it an easy album cover to design. What I mean is – was it easy to tell Tom how you wanted the album cover to look like.

Yes, the dude's a genius! A TRUE MASTER at his craft.

Q10 – Now I can find no information on who is involved with the band. Such as the names of relevant band members. Are you keeping your identities secret at this or will it be revealed in the future.

Let the tunes speak for themselves...

Q11 – Your releasing your new album on Vinyl in July 2013. Are you guys releasing that yourselves or via an independent label.

Indie via Stoked Distribution...

Q12 – What is your favourite track off the new album. Mine has to be – The Horror – As it features Wino in fine demented form.

We like 'em all!

Q15 – Which bands and artists influence you on your music. And have you met any of your musical heroes.

A to Z... Yes!

Q16 – What is the song-writing process in the band. Is it a group collective or is it down to one individual.

It's a group effort...

Q17 – What are the most and least rewarding aspects of participating with the band. Obviously the reality of how expensive it is being in a band could be considered as a negative aspect.

It's ALL good maaaaan!

Q18 – Will you guys be performing any live dates in the future.

Perhaps...

Q19 – I would class Witches Of God as an Occult Rock band. What do you think of the Occult Rock scene at the moment. Some great bands coming out now – Uncle Acid & The Deadbets, Ancient Vvisdom, Huata and Bloody Hammers.

Not big on classes... Quit school early...

Q20 – If you could provide any advice to people wanting to start a band, what would it be.

Go ahead! Start a band!

Q21 – So what are your future plans for the next 12 months or so.

A new album, etc.

Q22 – Finally do you have anything to say to our readers.

Thx for your support! Totally overwhelmed by the positive response!!! :)

Well guys thanks for your time again. Best of luck with your excellent new album and the forthcoming vinyl release.
