La Danse Macabre cover art

Three Eyes Left is a Psych Sludge/Stoner Metal Band from Italy.

The members are:

Maic (Vocals, Guitar)
Andrea (Bass)
Ste (Drums)

Three Eyes Left is a band that I have been aware of for a while. Mainly through YouTube and a few Italian band’s recommendations that I have had the pleasure to review and interview over the last 12 months or so.

Now you might think by the album cover and the names of a couple of tracks that these guys are actually a traditional doom metal band. But you will be wrong. Three Eyes Left are an excellent Sludge/Stoner Metal Band blended with plenty of groovy psych based riffs.

If you are a fan of recent Sludgelord faves – Void Of Sleep – then you are going to dig Three Eyes Left a great deal. I love this band’s debut album – La Danse Macabre. A 5 song and 40 minute blast through the Sludge/Stoner Metal spectrum of high quality riffs.

The first track instantly had me hooked – Vestibulum Diaboli – as it starts with a menacing riff before sampling a speech from seminal 70’s action classic – The Warriors. Before the band kick into action with their style of action packed Sludge/Stoner Metal riffs. This track is the shortest on the album. 4:36 minutes. When this track is over you have four epic heavy slabs of Sludge/Stoner Metal tracks to head-bang through.

OK their might not be the most original of sounds here but I don’t care as this album is full of riffs from start to finish. Some fast and some slow but you can’t deny the power and intensity the guys put into their music.

This album does have a slight occult rock feel to it especially with the album times – Lord Of Underworld, The Devil Walks With Him and Celebrating The Flight Of The Crow. But this is not a dark or frightening album by any means. It’s a hard rocking blast of brilliant epic riffs to rock out to.

Three Eyes Left add a grunge/fuzz rock vibe to their music as well to stand out from the crowd. They are not afraid to experiment with their sound. It all makes for an intriguing album that is simply a breath of fresh air to the genre. One of the bands strongest weapons at their disposal is vocalist Maic who definitely has a great style all of his own. His growls have real passion and menace to them. Any band would be lucky to have him as their lead vocalist.

La Danse Macabre is built for one main thing. Riffs, Riffs and even more Riffs. Headbang at your heart’s content. You have 40 minutes to rock out all your aggression to. This is Sludge/Stoner Metal riffs that will leave you begging for more. As the albums leave you in a hypnotic state of sludge/stoner metal bliss. It might take you a while to recover from the magic that Three Eyes Left have in store for you.

Overall – Three Eyes Left debut album is a superb album to showcase not only this great bands talents but to prove Italy really does have some of the finest Sludge/Stoner Metal bands currently in the scene today.

Awesome. End Of.
