Palehorse - Harm Starts Here - Review

Palehorse is an Experimental/Noise Rock/Punk/Sludge Metal Band from UK

The members are: Ben, John, Nikolai, James, Mark

Palehorse are a band who I have known about for a while. They have had a few line-up changes during the 12 years they have been together as a band. They have released a few well-received albums and EP’s. The last one - Soft As Butter, Hard As Ice being released 2 years ago.

Well Palehorse are back with their excellent new album – Harm Starts Here – A 7-song opus that runs for a head banging 58 minutes or so. Palehorse have always been a experimental band in scope and nature. They are not afraid to play with different sounds and styles to confuse the listener with. It’s probably give them a well-deserved reputation within the British Metal scene.

Has much changed here. No – not really. The band are still chaotic as ever but all done with a slight mischievous grin on their faces. The other great thing the band had going for them is their talent for writing truly awe-inspiring riffs and vocals to match. Palehorse are definitely one of the UK’s true original voices within the underground scene.

Harm Starts Here just furthers that reputation. Tracks such as What Is Wrong With You People, Bird Feed and Charnel No 5 prove the band are just as creative with the song titles as they are with their industrial based riffs. Vocalist .. tells people how life really is. It might make uncomfortable listening but it sure has a truthful energy to it.

Palehorse have now finally been signed to a major label. Candlelight Records deserve praise for signing these visionary rockers as they don’t fall under the scope of a normal rock/metal band. But when have Palehorse been considered a normal rock/metal band. Palehorse throw different sounds and beats to their music and it makes the album a truly unforgettable experience that you won’t easily forget!!!

Palehorse might owe a nod to visionary bands such as Godflesh and Nine Inch Nails with the industrial based music lurking in the background. Palehorse have the power to truly provoke an emotional reaction from listeners that could shake them to the core especially on brilliant track - Full Power Anglo Gambian Rinseout.

A track that proves Palehorse are not afraid to address issues currently surrounding the UK Political Landscape. A unflinching and unforgiving masterpiece of Sludge Metal.

Palehorse have said this album is the best work of their career so far. And I for one agree with that statement. I hope the band come back with another brilliant album but I feel this is their most important album to date. All Palehorse fans should rejoice as they are finally back and what an album to come back with.

Play this album as loud as you can. Palehorse have released their most defining work to date. It is an incredible experience you will be listening to/experiencing over and over again.

Amazing and Highly Recommended.

Thanks to Darren and Candlelight Records for sending me a copy to review. Much appreciated.Harm Starts Here will be released on June 24th 2013.
