HUSH. deliver a satisfying brand of molasses-thick sludge, rich in lumbering doom riffs dredged from the darkest bowels of the earth. Their intensity and aggression is offset with an expansive, exploratory edge adding a psychedelic hue to these tracks.  "Nihil Unbound" is an impressive statement from HUSH. No second is wasted on this EP, every track a tantalising glimpse of the cosmic devastation that lies ahead of you.

The Review:
I recently watched a live video of New York's HUSH. It offered a brief taste of the bands awesome power as they laid waste to a tiny basement with a twin drummer, triple guitar assault. This is something which has been expertly conveyed on new EP "Nihil Unbound".
The intro of "...Gazes into you" oozes menace. An ominous bass riff emerges from a hazy fog, a harbinger of the carnage to follow when the band lurch into full attack. When they do, HUSH. deliver a satisfying brand of molasses-thick sludge, rich in lumbering doom riffs dredged from the darkest bowels of the earth. Their intensity and aggression is offset with an expansive, exploratory edge adding a psychedelic hue to these tracks. This is demonstrated to powerful effect during "Oror" and the start of "A Permanent Echo Through The Dream", echoing Yob's spacier moments or the epic melody of ISIS.
"Shinda Inu No Shashin" offers the most punishing example of this, recalling the bleakest moments of Unearthly Trance and Primitive Man. "Shattering The Great Chain of Being" is as heavy as its title and brings the EP to a close in crushing style. The band lock into one final earth-shattering grind at the tracks climax, eventually engulfed by a rising tide of static, the sound of a radio being tuned to the apocalypse.
"Nihil Unbound" is an impressive statement from HUSH. No second is wasted on this EP, every track a tantalising glimpse of the cosmic devastation that lies ahead when they unleash another full length. The band are currently offering this as a name your price download on bandcamp so waste no time and immerse yourself in this sweet oblivion now.
