6 NEW BANDS: THE SLUDGELORD'S 666 Pack Review, 1 year Anniversary Edition (October 2017)

By: Nikos Mixas

Can you believe that THE SLUDGELORD’S 666 Pack Review has been around for a year already???  Holy shit that went by fast!  On our initial 666 Pack Review, we were a little timid and a little shy…well not so much now eh?  We’ve been propping up bands that deserve your attention and having fun with some that need to put in more hours at band practice.  So, if you’re new to this, each and every month we handpick 6 review submissions and critique them by only using 6 words, then we rate them on a scale from 1 to 666

Check out our awesome rating scale below from the initial 666 Pack Review from October 2016:

1 – WTF are you doing???  Go get your money back from Guitar Center!
2 – You might be tone deaf.  Or perhaps your friends are lying to you?  Keep working at it.
3 – There’s some potential...start listening to and watching Manowar to see how the metals is done.
4 – Not too shabby!  Upgrade your amps from Crate to Orange now!!!
5 – I was tapping my foot and/or bobbing my head.  You’re definitely worthy enough to pack dive bars.
666THE SLUDGELORD brands you with his pentagram of approval!!!  Hails!!!

The 666 Pack Review is meant to offer humorous criticism and is not meant to hurt feelings, however, there are no safe spaces here.  THE SLUDGELORD is a picky listener…and doesn’t care what you think of his opinions….

1). Spacelord - “Spacelord” (Buffalo, USA)    Rating: 4

Modern retro.  Does that make sense?

2). Barren Plains - “Adrift” (Pittsburgh, USA)   Rating: 5

Adrift with Pelican influence.  Not shabby.

3). Wardehns - “Wardehns” (Wausau, USA)   Rating: 2

Nothing stands out for me.  Sorry.

4). Dogzilla - “Astral Worship” (Tarnow, Poland)   Rating: 2

Please stick to black metal Poland.

5). Ground - “I” (Barcelona, Spain)   Rating: 4

Not “groundbreaking” but has groovy beats.

6). Angus Black  - “Angus Black” (Helsinki, Finland)   Rating: 3

Uncle Acid much?  But still solid.

Bonus 1st year anniversary review!

Neither God Nor Master"EP 1" (Brooklyn, USA)   Rating: 1

Doom was best in the 80’s.
