The Review:
Raw black metal is on the menu today, courtesy of Sammy satan Duet's other band Ritual Killer. Here he teams up with the Goatwhore rhythm section once again. Fans of LoFi black metal will certainly enjoy what's served up here.
Despite the less than stellar production, there's still plenty to rave about, Sammy's guitars sound thick and merciless, and his riffs are true Celtic Frost worship. The thing with an album like this is that it's hard to pick stand out tracks as they rarely stray from the path they carved on the opening track. As I've said it's very raw and the vocals don't measure up to Ben Falgoust from Goatwhore...but then few actually do! In terms of vocal sound, I'm reminded of Darkthrone's 'Panzerfoust' album. Raw and unnerving. Duet adds his own raspy screams in certain songs and his contributions to both Acid Bath and Goatwhore in the past have been very good.
If you're thinking this is a continuation of Goatwhore, you're sadly mistaken, this is its own beast, terrifying and tentative in it's own right. Fill your cups with blood and give praise to the ancient ones!
