ENOS are a superb band who have been on this blog before with their excellent debut album - Chapter 1.
Chapter 1 was an excellent concept album about ENOS the first chimp sent into space.
Chapter 1 was a brilliant album that featured ENOS winning blend of Sludge, Stoner, Doom and Space Rock that won them a whole load of praise from the Stoner Rock Fraternity.
Well these brilliant cosmic space rockers are back with their best work to date - All Too Human - A 9 track and 41 minute blast of insane ENOS magic. I have been listening to this amazing album all week and I am well into double figures.
All Too Human continues Enos adventures. As stated by the band themselves.....
"Chapter 2 follows the next installment of the Enos the chimp comic script, a dark tale of zombie Nazi's, dead victorian hookers and our 'hero', the Time travelling space chimp that is Enos.
We've put in a hell of a lot of time and effort into this record, using vintage gear and a real old school approach to the recording style with the intention of creating something between the epic and poignant prog of Pink Floyd and the heaviness of modern stoner/sludge."
Well I can vouch for the guys that they have put a hell of a lot into this cosmic masterpiece. As it gets better with each and every listen.
There is definitely a Pink Floyd atmosphere with Sludge/Stoner Metal overtones dealing with a time travelling space chimp.
Opening Track - Intro - showcases a Space Rock Odyssey gone wrong with a haunting message attached to it.
Up next is the excellent title track - All Too Human - A 5 minute breathtaking blast of Sludge/Stoner/Space Rock riffage that only ENOS can deliver. Damn even Monster Magnet would be proud to call this song their own. Insane lyrics and riffs make this song a fucking future ENOS classic. Wait for the 3rd minute before the haunting Stoner Rock riff kicks in. This part of the album is when you know your listening to something special.
3rd Track - Left For Dead - is where the Pink Floyd influence starts to kick in but ENOS still add their own original touch by adding ambient sounds and slow burning riffs. The last 2 minutes is where the song goes into overdrive with loud Stoner/Space/Sludge Rock riffs with a creepy soundtrack in the background. I never expected that in this song especially how the song starts off.
The first 3 tracks show you what to expect for the rest of the album. Haunting soundscapes mixed with sublime Sludge/Stoner Rock riffage all blended together by wonderful dreamy cosmic space rock.
4th track - Collisions - may feel like a laid back Stoner Rock track with a superb acoustic feel driving it through. But listen to the dark lyrics and you know something darker is lurking in the backgrounds. A haunting semi-acoustic masterpeice.
I am not going to do any more track by track reviews as I want the audience to discover this amazing album for themselves.
It's a truly great work of genius. It tells a thrilling story about a time travelling space chimp with great sci-fi based Sludge/Stoner/Space Rock riffs to match.
ENOS have matched the Stoner Rock intensity of Monster Magnet with the Progressive Rock creative brilliance of Pink Floyd and Mastodon into something you don't hear much of these days.
The album is expertly produced. You can hear every riff and note played to ear-shattering perfection.
ENOS will be receiving a whole load of praise for this amazing album. As it's a future masterpiece of the genre.
All Too Human might be ENOS most definitive work to date and it will be the release I will be comparing all their future releases to. I don't know if the guys can top this. I hope they will do one day but it's going to be very hard to beat.
All Too Human is amazing. Buy this album when it comes out on 12th December 2012 via excellent record label Stargun Music on their BandCamp Page. You won't be sorry. It's seriously that brilliant. End Of.
