Bio
In the year of our
lord 1980, a green massive comet falls down to earth. Inside it a
huge hairball, rotten, matted all together begins to inhale music,
different from the usual, just perfect to its ears. In its quest,
three mushrooms forced it in the psychedelic form of music and a Baba
helped it in his gnosis. So, all five after a lot of intergalactic
wanderings, decided to stay in earth as the embodiment of five
earthly figures, keeping their genuine un-earthly characters. Life in
earth was not what they expected so decided to communicate through
music. Magic herbs, intermixtures of smoke, a lot of alcohol mixes,
hallucinatory quests led them to express themselves through their
music their personal experiences on this fastidious planet. Using
their own colours, their fury for everything and looking back to the
beautifully trips, they tried through their pervert minds to express
themselves. So different and yet so similar. Careless laughs, endless
hangovers, trips to the unknown, general wanderings in hostile
galaxies. All of that as the fellow-travellers at their rehearsals.
And above all that, a powerful green stuff, leftover from the comet,
taking care of them. Roll fast...play slow...!!!

Review:
Sadhus
(The Smoking Community) are a band for all you Sludge/Doom/Stoner
fans who like their music with a WEEDIAN influence running through
its veins. The debut album - The Smoking Community - is one heavy
addictive hit of brutal and blazing riffs, which should find a loyal
audience within the Doom/Sludge/Stoner Metal community. It may not
offer anything new but it is still an exciting and excellent album to
listen to as Sadhus (The Smoking Community) pay homage to the
legendary bands of the genre. The vocals have a distinctive
old-school feel to them. Real mean and nasty with added bite where
the death-based growls are concerned.
If
you are a fan of bands such as Church Of Misery, Grief, EHG and
Weedeater then you will be in your element here. Sadhus (The Smoking
Community) add elements of blues-rock to their music for an album
packed full of menace and bluesy soul as well. I have to say the
album has it's fair share of great tracks to check out mainly the
title track which is an epic and menacing listen when played at full
blast. The riffs feel they were created in the legendary NOLA swamp
and not Greece from where the band comes from.
The
album has a gritty down-tempo feel, as Sadhus (The Smoking Community)
do not mess about with their riffs. The music is brutal from the
start with Sadhus (The Smoking Community) proving they know how to
write a mean riff that packs an almighty punch. Sadhus (The Smoking
Community) have even managed to call upon a couple of their famous
friends to provide vocals on the album. Dani G from 1000mods and Mike
from Lucky Funeral supply their vocal talents on one of the albums
standout tracks - Make Me 20 Euros - even though it is only on for 2
mins or so. It does have a snarling punk rock vibe mixed in with the
fast-paced Sludge/Stoner Metal riffs. Play this track nice and loud
if you want to annoy the neighbours with.
I
am not going to do a lengthy review as actions speak louder than
words. Sadhus (The Smoking Community) have created a monster here
folks. It is a fantastic sounding album as you can feel every
bone-crunching note and riff coming at you from all angles. There is
no escape from Sadhus (The Smoking Community). My advice - Download
this now as it is available on BandCamp Buy Now Download. You won't regret it. Sadhus The Smoking Community is another outstanding album for the
rising Greek Sludge/Stoner Metal scene. It could be that Sadhus (The
Smoking Community) are the loudest Sludge/Stoner Metal band that
Greece has to offer now.
The album is also available to buy on CD and Vinyl from BandCamp now.
Excellent
and Highly Recommended.
