The Sludgelord News: Daily Digest

Your rundown of the top sludge news stories of the day …

PARADISE LOST - Gothic doom lovers your Tragic Idol is back. They’ve been one of the most consistent, successful and innovative metal acts to emerge from the UK in the last quarter century and Halifax-based legends PARADISE LOST are set to return with their 14th full length album this summer on Century Media.

Nick Holmes has been vocalist for the group since their very start back in 1988. He had this to say about it, "we wanted to approach the new album differently this time by embracing the band’s VERY early days. We have written a very dark, yet melodic album, but this time many songs definitely have a death metal edge, which is something we haven’t done for a long long time in Paradise Lost.”

The Plague Within’ will be released June 1, 2015 in Europe and June 2 in North America. Further details will be released in the intervening months.

20.02. NO Bergen, Blastfest
18.07. PL Bolkow, Castle Party 2015
15.08. DE Dinkelsbühl, Summer Breeze Open Air

Yes, Rolling Stone is currently hosting a stream of the band’s brand new single “Loose Men” from the album ‘Restarter’. Since when did Rolling Stone care about heavy music, you ask? Since it became this melodic and poppy as only Torche can produce.

It was also announced today that the band will embark on an extensive touring schedule which will see them negotiate their way through much of the western world, from March 4 to June 1. The tour starts in Miami, goes through the southern states then back up the east coast before taking April off, then heading overseas for all of May. The band will be spending a little over a week in the UK and Ireland. You can see the full tour schedule below.

You can listen to “Loose Men” at this location.

Also, if you haven’t heard them by now, the first two songs to be premiered were “Minions”, which you can hear at this location and “Annihilation Affair”, which you can hear at this location.

FATHER MURPHY - Strange Italian psychedelic occult beings FATHER MURPHY will released their ‘Croce’ album on March 17, but you can preview the first single release called “So This Is Permanent” at The Quietus. If you’re unfamiliar with Father Murphy, be forewarned, this is not your everyday sound. The song barely conforms to traditional forms of music, rather creating a sound painting with odd effects.

4.  In Solitude
5.  Long May We Continue
