Review:
Now
I am not the resident Thrash/Death Metal expert at Sludgelord HQ. I
am more of the Doom, Stoner and Sludge Metal kind of guy. I usually
leave the Death/Thrash Metal reviews to some of the other team. I
used to listen to Death and Thrash Metal religiously back in my
younger days.
So
when Pablo Lopez from Zero Tolerance contacted me recently to check
out his band's debut album - Abismal. I was not looking forward to it as
it's been such a long time since I have listened to a Death/Thrash
metal album. So I pressed play on my MP3 player. And low and behold.
WOW!!!
This
album impressed the hell out of me. It's brutal style of melodic fast
paced thrash/death metal riffs took me back to my younger days as
opening track – Intro – lets you know what is in store for you.
Heavy pummeling riffs from this hugely talented band from Chile.
Zero
Tolerance take influence from a whole range of bands from the
Death/Thrash Metal scene over the last 30 years or so as they pay
homage to their musical heroes while forging a heavy as fuck attitude
and identity of their own.
2nd
track – Cataclismo – is a mean and angry track that has a
killer vibe around it. Lead vocalist – Pablo Torres – lays down
some fucked-up gut-wrenching vocals that will drive a pile-driver to
your skull. And the riffs aren't half bad either with the band
expertly showing they can do.
The
album has the usual styles of mood and atmospheres that other
Death/Thrash Metal bands bring to the party but Zero Tolerance have
such a menacing and dangerous side to their music which instantly
draws you into the carnage. The drumming is ferocious through out as
Pablo Lopez smacks the hell out of his drums like his life depended
on it.
If
you're sick of he mainstream Death/Thrash Metal bands then Zero
Tolerance will restore your faith in good old death and destruction
as it's the perfect medicine to fuck-up your world. Check out
excellent tracks such as – Abismal, Agonia and Zero Tolerancia to
see why you need to check out this great band now.
The
production is superb through out. It's brilliantly loud, crisp and
clear for a DIY record release. You will be surprised how great it
sounds as I can't fault the production one bit.
What
is even better is the band is giving this album away for free download. So you have no excuses not checking out this superb album.
If you're a long-time Thrash/Death Metal fan then this album is an
essential release to add to your record collection.
Highly Recommended.
Thanks
to Pablo
Lopez for sending a copy of the album to review.
