Horn Of The Rhino are a great metal band that blends Sludge, Stoner, and Thrash Metal music to superb effect. I have to thank blog viewer Aaron for the recommendation and the band themselves for allowing me to review their superb new album “Grengus”.

Horn Of The Rhino have been around a while and have released a few releases. “Grengus” is their 4th release overall and according to many reviewers their best work yet. This is my first foray into the world of Horn Of The Rhino but it’s a world I want to do more visiting. As Grengus is just mind-blowing and heavy as out.

The album is a superb mix of Sludge, Stoner and Thrash metal that a lot of bands are starting to do at the moment. These guys mix their genres and influences brilliantly well to create something unsettling and breathtaking at the same time.

If you’re a fan of bands like Hazzard’s Cure and Behold! The Monolith then you will be right at home with these guys. As Horn Of The Rhino play the same blend of hard-hitting Stoner/Thrash/Sludge metal riffs.

The songs are all superbly produced and they even manage to add a few 90’s grunge riffs to their music as well. Mainly from the Alice In Chains/Soundgarden school of grunge rock/metal. And it works.

Standout tracks include “Grengus”, “Drowned In Gold” and the amazing 11 minute plus epic “Brought Back”.

Another strong point of this great album is the vocals. Venturing from Death Based Growls to melodic hard rock with apparent ease which really adds to the great atmosphere the album is creating.

Horn Of The Rhino prove with Grengus they are a force to be reckoned with and hopefully will gain a bigger audience as possible on the international scene. As Grengus is a masterclass of the Stoner/Sludge/Thrash crossover scene. Simply sublime.

You can buy this superb release from all good stockists everywhere. Highly Recommended!!!
