March The Desert - Waves On The Moon

Waves on the Moon cover art

March The Desert is a Sludge/Doom/Stoner Metal Band from Brighton, UK

The members are:

Vocals - Sam Grange
Guitar - James Thorne
Bass - Alastair Train
Drums - Hugh Gascoine

I originally featured these excellent Psych Rockers back in Jan 2013 when I reviewed their superb S/T debut album.

Well fast forward 9 months later and March The Desert are back with their awesome new EP - Waves On The Moon. Look at the EP cover as that is one trippy picture that fits the music perfectly. As Waves On The Moon combines Sabbath based Doom Metal riffs with Kyuss Desert Rock vibes and it's a wonderful combination indeed.

First track - Frown Curve - is the perfect track to start off with. Blazing Slduge/Stoner Metal riffs with hints of Fuzz and Doom thrown in for good measure. Sam is on fine trippy form here. His vocals are finely tuned to match the superb psych trippy riffs being played here. Fans of Psych-Stoner-Sludge will be in their element here. Just sit back and embrace the riffs!!!

March The Desert have written two more superb tracks for you to lose yourself in. Waves Of The Moon and Tabula Rasa offer more dreamy trippy riffs to take your mind, body and soul into the next dimension. I wonder if the band were under the influence of certain substance as the music is highly addictive indeed. Maybe you need your bong to fully experience the magic that March The Desert have in store for you here.

I would say Tabula Rasa has to be the EP's best track as it showcases what March The Desert are all about. Sludge, Fuzz, Doom and Stoner Metal all blended together for one highly infectious ride. A brilliant track to end the album on. March The Desert have definitely progressed from their debut album. I hope the band venture into this loud epic sonic territory on future releases as it definitely suits their overall sound.

You know what I am going to say next. Headover to Bandcamp and download this now on Buy Now Deal. You won't be sorry. This is the next best thing to a legal high. Take my word for it. You're going to love it.

Excellent and Highly Recommended.
